Stories of kind people during Covid-19

Through stories. We determine to not feed the virus with fear, but with love. Focus not on isolation, but on connections.

Not on the differences, but on the similarities that unite us. That’s why we ask you during this time of isolation and quarantine:

Where did you see love today? How did you construct a bond? When have you ever experienced compassion?

Love in survival mode

This March is a month of survival, but filled with love, as my family and I navigate through this lockdown. Due to the virus, my invitation to the Asian Global Women conference in Malaysia was canceled and Parliament (where I work in public relations) asked me to make money working from home for 2 weeks.

I made a decision to make use of this time to ascertain a routine and do all of the things I had been laying aside. For example, by writing a biography of my mother – who has been a single parent since my father died sixteen years ago – I now have more time to speak with my mother, who lives in one other city.

I even have more time for my pregnant third sister, who works as an obstetrics and gynecology specialist in a public hospital. She shares health suggestions and I try to scale back her stress by sharing humorous stories and poetry. She is grateful for the support, especially since it is a busy time for her.

I even have encouraged myself, family and friends to remain positive and maintain a way of community – although we’re isolated from one another, we maintain connection and community by staying connected online. Staying positive impacts all of us within the office, family, neighborhood, community and country – so we must proceed to see the positive in these difficult times.

I’m grateful that I now have time to jot down for “our higher world” and skim my books. The whole world now has one voice, let’s use it to empower one another and send love. My reflection for 2020 is to face the long run with a healthy mind, body and soul. This will pass and we are going to survive. Hugs and love from Indonesia.
