Jakarta-Buenos Aires shall be connected to Transpolar Flight. Visa-free travel agreement soon?

South America is becoming an increasingly popular holiday destination for Indonesians, especially millennials. Machu Picchu, Iguazu Falls, Bariloche, Ushuaia, Villa la Angostura, Perito Moreno Glacier and Buenos Aires are definitely places you may “instagram” and at all times dream of visiting.

But within the absence of efficient connectivity, can this dream grow to be a reality?

This yr, Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, was chosen by tripexpert.com as the very best tourist destination in South America, nevertheless it isn’t there and it is simple to travel there from Indonesia.

To get to Buenos Aires, an Indonesian will first should go to Dubai, from where he’ll catch one other flight to San Pablo and from there to Buenos Aires. It will take 30 or 40 hours and value about $2,500.

All countries on the west coast of South America, namely Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile, have provided visa-free travel to travelers from Indonesia. Guyana too, while Suriname provides a visa-on-arrival regime for Indonesians. Argentina, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela didn’t achieve this.

Ivan Ronaldo, who strongly emphasizes the importance of visa-free travel for Indonesian residents through the “BebasVisaID” movement, addresses this issue to Antara. “Better connectivity would mean better air connections and a better visa waiver agreement. Better people-to-people connections, as well as business and trade contacts, will yield the best results if both criteria are met.”

“I had the honor of communicating directly with Mr. Diego Berazategui, who is the President of the Argentine Chamber of Commerce in Australia. I strongly emphasized the importance of the Argentine government introducing visa-free travel for travelers from Indonesia to better combine both Many of my colleagues have regretfully had to cancel their planned Argentine adventure due to visa issues. Some of them were refused visas even after working hard to obtain the necessary documents, others were refused to go to Argentina because they could not apply for a visa for logistical reasons. Buenos Aires could become a transport hub between Indonesia and South America if the visa waiver is implemented. bilateral,” Ronaldo said.

There is a plan to connect Indonesia with South America via Perth-Buenos Aires via a transpolar flight.

So far, Garuda Indonesia flies from CGK to Perth 5 times a week. Norwegian Airlines is expected to connect Buenos Aires with Perth. Ideally, the two flights would be intertwined, which would strengthen people-to-people contacts and could directly blossom existing business and trade relationships.

Relations between Indonesia and Argentina date back to when diplomatic ties were established in 1956. Both countries are members of the Group of 77, the G-20 major economies, the G20 developing countries and the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation.

According to the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 8,408 Argentines visited Indonesia in 2016, while no more than 1,000 Indonesians visited Argentina.

The Indonesian government officially abolished the visa requirement for Argentines wishing to travel to Indonesia from 2016. Even earlier, a visa on arrival for Argentines was offered for $35, valid for 30 days.

Mr. Berazategui, president of the Argentine Chamber of Commerce in Austria, also presents his explanations regarding the planned mergers.

“Flying from Buenos Aires to Perth will be profitable if Perth can effectively distribute Argentine travelers to Asia. Already 50,000 Argentines travel to Southeast Asia via Europe or Dubai and Perth will save them up to 10 hours.

With Perth as the hub, Indonesia will be the first destination in Southeast Asia, most likely Argentine tourists will spend a few days in Perth and then head to Bali to start their Southeast Asia adventure. This means that a larger proportion of Argentines will now visit Indonesia, instead of Dubai – Thailand – Vietnam and back. This could be a great opportunity for the Indonesian tourism industry as well.

We could increase the number of Argentine tourists coming to Indonesia by much more than the already 8,000 in 2016. Perhaps twice or even tripled. We also intend to transport 10,000 travelers from Indonesia to Argentina,” Berazategui said.

The Argentine Chamber of Commerce in Australia can be appealing to the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism to further explore the potential of lifting the visa requirement for tourists from Indonesia. “We believe this is a necessary change to increase transit and ensure the sustainable development of Buenos Aires-Perth,” Berazategui added.

Buenos Aires may be very well connected to the remainder of Latin America, so it’s a superb idea to start out your South America adventure there.

“In addition to the obvious tourism benefits for Argentina and Indonesia, the route connecting Indonesia and Argentina via Perth will significantly reduce travel times and costs. The 20-hour flights on the Indonesia-Perth-Buenos Aires route will open up several new opportunities in terms of food, trade, sports and culture, entertainment. I am sure that Indonesians in Argentina will learn Spanish and/or conduct football training at Boca Junior,” he further explained Mr. Berazategui.
