He pleaded guilty to a few counts of aggravated rape, which carries a minimum sentence of eight years in prison and 12 strokes of the cane.

The abuse got here to light when the victim entered highschool and located the courage to inform school staff what had happened.
She then showed symptoms of trauma, resembling hypervigilance and frequent strong feelings of disgust, fear, and sadness.
She was referred for trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and showed significant improvement after therapy sessions.
He is the last brother convicted on this case. The eldest brother was sentenced on Monday, and the 2 youngest are awaiting reports on whether or not they are suitable to take part in reform training.
Arguing for a sentence of 16 years in prison and 24 strokes of the cane, Ms Pillay stated that the perpetrator admitted he would have continued the sexual abuse had it not been reported.
“The defendant’s perverse actions left a stain on the victim’s young age, when she must have been concerned only with school duties and peer friendships,” the prosecutor’s office said.
“Instead, he is left with a morass of guilt and trauma to deal with.”
In mitigation, defense attorney Stephania Wong of Rajah & Tann read an excerpt from a letter from her client by which he apologized to his family and the victim.
The man said he “ruined” the victim’s life and “traumatized her” when he was “presupposed to be caring for her.” He hoped he would have the chance to apologize in person and promised to be “more responsible.”
Wong also noted the perpetrator’s young age of 16 to twenty when he committed the violence.
She claimed that as an adolescent he was exposed to inappropriate sexual conduct and pornographic material and that he didn’t receive appropriate guidance from an adult, which contributed to his offending.
However, Judge Chionh found that the sentence proposed by each the prosecution and defense was not sufficient to reflect the general criminality of the person’s conduct and was not consistent with previous sentences.
She said that although he faced fewer charges than his eldest brother – who had 42 charges and was sentenced to twenty years in prison and caning – most of his crimes involved the “actual completion” of rape.
She stressed that the person had abused the trust and responsibility placed in him because the victim’s older brother, in addition to an prolonged period of 5 years during which he “sexually terrorized” her.
She also noted the intense harm the victim had suffered, including her current separation from her younger sisters and oldsters “through no fault of her own.”
Judge Chionh said that when his sentence ends, the perpetrator will still be quite young and expressed hope that he’ll give you the chance to rehabilitate himself as he promised.
Reiterating her appeal to the victim to take courage and move forward, she added that the undeniable fact that the girl’s psychologist said she had noticed improvement was a testament to her fortitude.
The judge also expressed hope that the girl’s family would come together to point out her love, support and encouragement.
