Singapore Tourism Board (STB) AND Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA)the cruise industry’s global trade body, announced on March 5 a brand new three-year partnership geared toward boosting the increasingly vibrant cruise industry in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
STB and CLIA will leverage their complementary strengths to offer training for travel agencies, enhance destination marketing efforts, drive the event of regional ports, and exchange technical and regulatory best practices.
The three-year strategic partnership marks CLIA’s first collaboration with the National Tourism Organization in Asia. It comes in the intervening time of entry Southeast Asia, home to a few of the world’s fastest-growing economies, is rapidly gaining momentum. This is reported in the newest CLIA Asia Cruise Trends report Southeast Asia contributed nearly 20 percent Asiapassengers.
In the primary 12 months of cooperation, STB and CLIA plan to conduct training for travel agencies in priority cruise markets, including: Indonesia, Malaysia AND India.
As most cruise bookings are made through travel agencies, these training sessions are designed to enhance travel agents’ general cruise sales skills and knowledge of Southeast Asia especially cruises. The partnership will leverage CLIA’s job training capabilities and STB’s travel trade network within the region.
