MITSUBISHI MOTORS CORPORATION (MMC) has began production of its MPV XPANDER crossover in Malaysia. This is the third country, after Indonesia and Vietnam, where MMC produces the vehicle.
The XPANDER is manufactured at Hicom Automotive Producers (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., a vehicle assembly contractor in Malaysia, and can be sold from November this yr through the sales network of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, Malaysia’s exclusive distributor.
Since its launch in Indonesia in 2017, the XPANDER – including the XPANDER CROSS – has been well received for its futuristic styling, comfort and high driving characteristics. By the top of September 2020, the entire sales volume of the series reached roughly 270,000 units.
“We are very pleased to be able to deliver the Malaysian-made XPANDER to customers in the country,” said Takao Kato, CEO of MMC, as he began production. “We plan to have our plant in Indonesia, which is the main plant of XPANDER, in addition to the finished vehicles, we export more assembly parts for local production in Malaysia. MITSUBISHI MOTORS CORPORATION will contribute to the economic development of every country by expanding our production and exports.”
