Indonesia’s national carrier Garuda Indonesia is about so as to add 30 recent routes for each domestic and international flights, airline spokesman Ikhsan Rosan said on Sunday.
“We will immediately open two flights to China – Denpasar-Zhengzhou and Denpasar-Xi’an,” Ikhsan said at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, as reported by the web site tempo.co.
New routes from Denpasar in Bali to Zhengzhou and Xi’an in China will launch in late January, highlighting China’s potential to contribute to the Indonesian tourism industry.
“These recent routes also exhibit our optimism in increasing our market share. Currently, Garuda Indonesia’s market share on the Indonesia-China route is roughly 35 percent, said Sigit Muhartono, Garuda’s director of cargo Jakarta Post Office.
“As the situation in Bali has returned to normal, we are optimistic that the opening of new routes can provide an important impetus to further expand international tourist visits to Bali,” Sigit said, as reported by the web site Xinhua.
About 120 million Chinese residents travel abroad annually, he said, adding that in 2017, 1 million Chinese tourists visited Indonesia.

On two recent Chinese routes, Garuda Indonesia will fly five times per week with an Airbus A330-300 aircraft, which may accommodate 360 passengers.
According to Jakarta Post OfficeGaruda Indonesia currently operates 63 direct flights per week to cities in China, namely Denpasar-Chengdu, Denpasar-Beijing, Denpasar-Guangzhou, Denpasar-Shanghai, Jakarta-Guangzhou, Jakarta-Beijing and Jakarta-Shanghai.
For domestic services, Ikhsan said the airline would send more flights to eastern Indonesia and supply feeder services from small satellite cities to large cities akin to Medan in North Sumatra and Makassar in South Sulawesi.
