Soekarno-Hatta International Airport reported that it welcomed 63 million (63,015,620) air passengers in 2017, a rise of 8 percent in comparison with 58.2 million in 2016.
The variety of passengers traveling on international routes increased to 14.71 million. This represents a 12 percent increase over 2016, the airport said in a press statement. Meanwhile, the variety of domestic passengers also increased by 7%, to 48.3 million.
As passenger numbers rose, air traffic also increased by 8 percent to 447,390.
“This is thanks to the implementation of a sustainable smart airport program that provides us with greater efficiency and greater operational efficiency,” airport director general M. Suriawan Wakan said in an announcement.
The board also developed all three existing terminals on the airport, including ancillary facilities similar to the Skytrain connecting the airport’s terminals.
Suriawan added that the airport rail link, which was only launched late last yr to cut back travel time to the airport from central Jakarta, also contributed to this achievement.

Meanwhile, on December 18, Singapore’s Changi Airport also celebrated crossing one other milestone, recording 60 million passenger movements in 2017, its first calendar yr. The region’s other heavyweight airports, Suvarnabhumi Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport, have yet to announce passenger totals for 2017.
