The best seats aboard the world’s largest passenger plane just got higher. Singapore Airlines revealed the update on Thursday (February 11), offering a primary have a look at the brand new “Singapore Airlines Suites”.

The amenity kits, pajamas, slippers, blindfolds and socks are from the French luxury house, and the crystal glassware designed by Lalique will likely be used with Wedgwood tableware when serving meals.

To provide a brand new level of privacy, the variety of suites has been reduced to 6 from twelve, providing space for a bed, a full-sized wardrobe and two bathrooms, one in all which is provided with a sit-down vanity.

Passengers traveling together will have the opportunity to attach two suites by simply lowering the partition – it will not be yet known whether this will likely be required upfront.

The renovation follows an $850 million investment by Singapore Airlines and 4 years of development. It has long had a popularity for its premium services, rivaling Middle Eastern carriers resembling Etihad Airways and Emirates for luxury, and the brand new first-class suites will likely be almost 70 percent larger than the old ones.

“We are very good at doing a lot of unique things for our clients in a cost-effective way,” the CEO said Reuters on the sidelines of the event to disclose the seats.

Some carriers, including United Airlines and Qantas Airways (QAN.AX), firstclass was not installed on newer aircraft. But for other airlines, firstclass stays a showcase for attracting elite passengers and marketing the brand more broadly.

CAPA Center for Aviation principal analyst Brendan Sobie said it made sense for Singapore Airlines to have fewer first-class suites, provided that they were less full on average than other cabins.

“The profit premium and marketing benefits it generates make it worth retaining and improving,” he said Reuters.

“Revenues in the economy and premium segments will increase due to higher seat density. Overall, the A380’s profitability should improve, making the investment worthwhile.”

The recent suites will likely be introduced on the Singapore to London route in 2018. For more information on the brand new A380 cabins, visit A380.singaporeair.com.
