Welcome to Beijing’s latest airport, which experts say will eventually turn out to be the world’s largest – and with good reason. With 4 runways and a two-million-square-foot terminal, town’s second-largest airport will serve 45 million passengers a yr when it opens. And with two more deliveries, that number could eventually reach 100 million passengers a yr, Reuters reports.

Beijing’s latest airport, opened within the southern district of Daxing in 2019, will function a strategy to meet Beijing’s growing air transportation needs and expand the country’s civil aviation presence.

“The overall symmetry of the airport terminal design along with its flowing, interconnected forms create a fluid composition that evokes evidence of harmony and balance in Chinese landscapes, while its colors and materials are an expression of the visual language in traditional Chinese culture” According to Zaha Hadid’s website Architecture.

The latest airport will help reduce travel times, with the capital’s Beijing International Airport now ranked because the second busiest on this planet.
