Indonesian e-commerce unicorn Bukalapak has began BukaGlobala brand new feature that enables non-Indonesian consumers to buy on the Bukalapak platform.
AND blog post BukaGlobal’s announcement was released last Friday, while a recent video ad was uploaded to Bukalapak’s YouTube channel yesterday. According to KrAsiaCurrently, customers in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Hong Kong and Taiwan can use this feature. On the availability side, it is offered to pick out merchants in Jakarta and neighboring Tangerang, although the pool may expand in the longer term.
BukaGlobal may be accessed via the Bukalapak website and app. Customers can select their location after which browse the product lists of sellers who’ve registered with BukaGlobal.
VAT details are displayed throughout the checkout and payment process. Transactions should be made in Indonesian rupiah using bank cards, debit cards or money payments through a transfer agent at the customer’s location.
The Bukalapak app – and due to this fact BukaGlobal – is just available in Bahasa Indonesia, which suggests that BukaGlobal is geared towards selling to Indonesians living abroad.
According to Technology in Asia, BukaGlobal makes Bukalapak the primary Indonesian e-commerce company available internationally. BukaGlobal is a manifestation of Bukalapak’s mission to bring Indonesian products abroad.
Domestic competitors similar to Tokopedia proceed to focus exclusively on the Indonesian market, while regional players Lazada and Shopee are based in Singapore.
