According to the tenth edition of the HSBC report, Singapore is one of the best place to live on the planet for expatriates “Expat Explorer: Expanding Your Perspectives” questionnaire.
HSBC commissioned British research agency YouGov to survey almost 28,000 expats (people aged 18 and over living outside their home country) between March and April this 12 months, across 159 countries and territories.
Of these, 46 countries and territories were included within the rating – inclusion required a minimum sample of 100 foreign respondents, including at the least 30 foreign parents.
As quoted Lonely planetthe survey has been conducted for ten years, and the corporate claims that it’s the most important and longest-running study of expat life on the planet.
The survey asked 27 questions on topics starting from personal funds, work-life balance and the general cost of raising children, creating three rating tables: Economy, Experience and Family.
Singapore topped the general Championship League table, winning the title for the third 12 months in a row. The study found that Singapore has the richest, safest and highest quality of life for expatriates, as quoted by: Quartz.
The report shows that the most important reason expats love Singapore is the killer salaries; 73% say they’ll earn more there than at home, 42% say their annual income has increased since moving, and 65% said they’ve more disposable income than at home. The average salary is roughly $118,000 per 12 months.
Security can be a valued element for expats in Singapore, with 82% of them saying they feel safer there than at home. One of the largest drawbacks was the fee of childcare, which 85% said was dearer than at home. But it looks just like the trade-off is price it for them.
