Imagine walking on an overhead walkway reaching to the treetops and seeing orangutans of their natural habitat.
That’s what visitors to the brand new Rainforest Park in leafy Mandai will get when the park opens in 2021.
Wandering through the forests of Southeast Asia, visitors will see animals in a seemingly cage-free environment.
In addition to skywalks where visitors can interact with arboreal primates, the park will feature ground-level boardwalks and an underground cave with geological formations.
Said Mike Barclay, chief executive of Mandai Park Holdings: “The philosophy we wish to take is that visitors will probably be on this environment with the animals… and really rise up near them.”
Although the animals may appear close enough to the touch, measures will probably be taken to make sure the protection of each people and wildlife. These include keeping overhead walkways a sufficient distance from trees where primates live.
The latest park may also host trekking and adventure activities.
In addition to the Rainforest Park, the interchange will include the Bird Park, which will probably be relocated from its current site in Jurong, Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Safari.
Barclay said: “There are 5,000 species in Southeast Asia which can be prone to extinction within the wild, and we wish to inform a few of those stories and encourage people to construct connections with these species as we also work on the bottom to try to guard them.”
Mr. S. Iswaran, Minister of Trade and Industry (Industry), who was present at yesterday’s event, said: “With a powerful give attention to conservation and sustainable development, Mandai will develop into a middle for nature education and research, in addition to a number one nature destination in Asia. Visitors will find a way to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life, rejuvenate yourself within the bosom of nature, find out about animal protection and spend nice time with family and friends on bicycle or mountain climbing trips.
