Expedia.co.th recently released the outcomes of its 2017 study. Holiday Deprivation™ Testan annual study examining the vacation habits of greater than 15,000 working adults in 30 countries world wide.
The study, which drew on the insights of 300 full-time employees in Thailand, found that 81 percent of Thais agree they deserve more vacation days than they’re given, making them the fifth almost certainly to feel this fashion in Asia after South Korea (88 percent), Hong Kong (86 percent), Taiwan (84 percent) and India (81 percent).
The 2017 study also found that 76 percent of Thais spend their time at work dreaming a few vacation.
Simon Fiquet, CEO Southeast Asia and India he said, “Every 12 months, the Expedia Vacation Deprivation study examines vacation habits across several continents.. Although customs are different, the emotional impact of the vacations is just not the identical.
Around 80-90 percent of individuals world wide say that vacations make them feel happier, more rested, closer to family, less stressed and more relaxed. All these emotions are related to worker productivity”.
Apart from Thailand, the list also includes two other countries from the region, Malaysia and Singapore.
Below are the highlights from Expedia’s study on these two countries:
# One in three Malaysians would still check work email or voicemail no less than once a day while on holiday and find it difficult to disconnect, confirming that they were unable to totally enjoy their holiday
# Malaysians valued their holidays and noted that quality break day is essential to raised productivity and performance and is a crucial a part of work-life balance
# 77 per cent of Malaysians admitted that they felt more relaxed after coming back from a vacation, while a big percentage said that they were more productive, focused and capable of think more holistically after the break
# Singapore, ranked seventh on the list of nations with probably the most days off, saw nearly half of its full-time employees take fewer days off per 12 months than they need to, despite their employers being more accommodating
# This is partly resulting from the will of employees to maintain their vacation days in case something happens in the long run
# Other reasons cited for Singapore employees not using up all their leave entitlement include busy work schedules and insufficient resources to address the workload during absences
# The survey found that across all sectors, marketing and media employees were probably the most holiday-deprived on the planet, followed by those in foods and drinks and agriculture.
