Today we met the winners of the 2018 competition. Queen’s Young Leaders The awards have been announced.
The award goals to recognise the exceptional work of young people across the Commonwealth. Leaders will receive their award from The Queen at a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace next yr.
The Queen and Prince Harry have supported the award since its establishment. Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Foundation on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen in 2014.

Ahmad Fadillah Sellahhuddin – Founder of the Ukhwah Project
(BRUNEI)
Ahmad works to support vulnerable families in his community. He is the co-founder of Projek Bina Ukhwah, a youth movement that goals to create safer and more hygienic living conditions for those in need.
In the primary eight months, the group raised greater than 35,000 Belize dollars, distributed $6,000 value of food parcels and built houses for 2 families living in difficult conditions.
In addition, the organization runs the Family Empowerment and Economic Development Program, which supports families and provides them with funds to begin their very own small businesses. Ahmad has also been a member of the Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council for 14 years, where he raises awareness of HIV/AIDS through education.
Shiva Nagappan Visweswaran
(MALAYSIA)

The brochures are distributed to 50 refugee schools across Malaysia through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The group also delivers toolkits to 11 other institutions all over the world, explaining the way to make brochures and giving people the chance to create recent products from on a regular basis waste. Since its launch in 2016, it has saved about 4.5 tons of paper.
Wen Shin Chia – Founder of Green Yards

Wen is an environmentalist who uses innovation and entrepreneurship to combat pollution in her country. In 2016, she founded Green Yards, which discourages people from dumping household oil down the drain by offering them free soap for each 5kg of oil returned to them.
This oil, which pollutes water supplies, is as a substitute recycled into eco-friendly cleansing products and candles. Wen and her team also host community workshops to advertise recycling. In only one yr, Green Yards has prevented 4.7 tons of used cooking oil from being thrown away.
Tian Sern Oon – founding father of Acceset
(SINGAPORE)
Tian uses technology to assist people access mental health support. He is the founding father of Acceset, an internet platform where people can discuss mental health issues and seek help anonymously.
Tian previously spent three years serving on the manager committee of Audible Hearts, an internet peer support network for mental health.
During his time at Audible Hearts, Tian and his team worked with skilled counsellors and trained volunteers to supply support to young individuals who weren’t yet able to seek skilled help. Tian is now working to create a directory of social service organisations in Singapore to make it easier for those in need to search out the fitting skilled help.
Yi Jun Mock – Co-Founder Consulting
(SINGAPORE)
Yi Jun provides young individuals with the support and encouragement they should pursue their ambitions in skilled fields. He is the co-founder of Advisory, an internet initiative that goals to supply young Singaporeans with the chance to explore different profession options.
The service provides users with access to resources and interviews with professionals from various sectors to assist them plan their future careers. Yi Jun also served on the National Youth Council’s Young ChangeMakers (YCM) Grant Panel to evaluate and mentor youth teams applying for funding for community improvement projects.
While at YCM, he served because the Project Leader for Keep-In-Touch, which focused on raising awareness about urban poverty in Singapore. He and his team raised $52,000 in 16 weeks to support projects that help people living in disadvantaged areas. Yi Jun also serves as Project Leader (Networks) for the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network – Youth, where he works to have interaction youth worldwide in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
