Miss Universe 2017 had the biggest variety of contestants within the history of the pageant, 92 countries and territories. The previous record was 89 contestants in 2011.
All of the debutants on this 12 months’s Miss Universe pageant are from the Asia-Pacific region – two of them are from Southeast Asia.
Cambodia made its debut within the competition with candidate By Sotheary, who has been working as an expert model because the age of 14.
It can be the primary time Laos has entered the competition – this 12 months’s representative is Souphaphone Somvichith, a runway model and business administration student.
Nepal is the third country to make its first appearance on the Miss Universe 2017 pageant with its candidate, Nagma Shrestha, a beauty pageant veteran who has represented her country and even reached the finals of Miss Earth 2012.
Although none of the ladies made it into the highest 16, they’ve already made history by representing their country on the Miss Universe stage in the course of the coronation in Las Vegas, USA.
In the Miss South Africa final, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned Miss Universe 2017.
