Malaysia Airlines welcomes its first 4 indigenous cabin crew members. These individuals, Amyisha Nurshahira A/P Rosman (Jakun tribe), Sarah Elissa Tang A/P Aman (Temuan tribe), Veena Angelina Bte Jincis (Semai tribe) and Alzariza A/P Alwi (Semai tribe), are a part of 56 cabin crew members who accomplished Batch 1/2024 and Batch 2/2024 at MAB Academy.
They accomplished an intensive three-month training programme and have been operating Malaysia Airlines flights since 7 May 2024. Cabin crew members accomplished comprehensive training modules covering make-up, public speaking, hospitality, first aid, handling hazardous materials and aircraft understanding to make sure they meet Malaysia Airlines’ standards of service excellence.
The graduation ceremony for batches 1/2024 and a pair of/2024 of the Malaysia Airlines Indigenous Cabin Crew Training Programme was held on 11 July 2024. The event was attended by YBhg. Datuk Hajah Sapiah binti Dato’ Mohd Nor, Director General of the Orang Asli Development Department.
The recruitment of indigenous cabin crew is a collaboration with the Department of Orang Asli Development that began in December 2023. Recruitment took place in Pahang, Perak and Johor and included various ethnic groups reminiscent of Jakun, Temuan, Semai and others.
As a part of its commitment to diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities within the workplace, Malaysia Airlines will even take part in a special profession carnival for the Orang Asli on 24 and 25 August 2024. The carnival will give attention to the recruitment of cabin crew and cadet pilots.
In addition to recruiting domestic cabin crew, Malaysia Airlines is continuous its efforts to draw international cabin crew. The aim is to advertise diversity and supply personalized service to global customers. The airline plans to recruit from key markets reminiscent of India, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia.
Malaysia Airlines has achieved a major milestone by being ranked among the many top 10 airline cabin crews on the planet within the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2024. This is a major improvement from its seventeenth place in 2023.
