The correspondence claimed that former Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor had appointed his assistant Aminudin Mustafa to satisfy with SCL Group representatives on October 10, 2016 to debate the proposal.

According to the e-mail thread, Azrin allegedly arranged the meeting.

Umno has allegedly asked the CA to arrange proposals for the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition to retain the parliamentary seats of Arau, Pendang, Jerai, Kulim Bandar Baru, Ketereh, Machang, Bagan Serai, Kuala Kangsar, Telok Intan, Balik Pulau, Cameron Highland, Bentong, Bera, Sungai Besar, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Selangor, Setiawangsa, Titiwangsa, Segamat, Labis, Ledang, Muar, Tebrau, Pasir Gudang, Pulai, Kota Marudu and Beaufort.

Barisan reportedly desired to reclaim the sites of Alor Setar, Bachok, Pasir Putih, Kuala Krai, Kuala Nerus, Bukit Gantang, Temerloh, Gombak, Sepang, Lembah Pantai, Telok Kemang, Batu Pahat and Sandakan.

In GE14, Barisan retained six seats – Arau, Ketereh, Machang, Kuala Kangsar, Cameron Highlands and Bera.

Other files indicate that the previous deputy prime minister Zahid Hamidi was to carry a breakfast conference with representatives from SCL Group in New York through the Concordia Summit in September 2016.

The leaked files were uploaded on January 1 via the @HindsightFiles Twitter account.

They were purported to reveal details of CA’s activities through the 2016 US elections, Brexit referendum, in addition to the corporate’s involvement in elections and other large-scale data mining operations world wide.

The document includes previously unpublished emails, project plans, case studies, negotiations and other materials covering 65 countries.

“In the name of shining a light on these dark practices, I am releasing the documents and emails in their entirety for the public good. I am doing so to strengthen the case for data rights and enforcing our online voting rights around the world,” Kaiser, who worked at the corporate from 2014 to 2018, said in an announcement.

“We should all strive for a more ethical digital future for ourselves and our children,” she added.

A press release from the Prime Minister’s Office said that contrary to media reports, neither Cambridge Analytica nor its parent company SCL Group were ever employed, employed or received compensation in any form by Barisan Nasional, the Prime Minister’s Office or any a part of the Malaysian government.
