The export value of footwear and leather products from India to Vietnam amounted to USD 105 million, a rise of 13.27% in comparison with the identical period of 2016-2017.
Imports of footwear and leather goods from Vietnam to India amounted to USD 121.63 million, up 44 per cent over the identical period in 2016-17.
According to the Vietnam Leather Footwear and Handbag Association (LEFASO), Vietnam and India are two of the world’s three largest shoe producers. India is the world’s second-largest exporter of footwear, and Vietnam ranks third.
Vietnam imported leather from India price $492 million in 2017, which was 5 percent of the country’s total leather imports.
A delegation of over 30 Indian corporations took part in an exchange with their Vietnamese counterparts, organised by the Indian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam Leather Footwear and Handbags Association (LEFASO) in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the twentieth International Footwear and Leather Fair held from July 11 to 13 on the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City.
