Singapore to host world’s largest trademark event in 2020

Singapore has been chosen to host the world’s largest trademark event in 2020, the International Trademark Association (INTA) announced on Monday (May 21).

The association’s 142nd annual meeting will likely be held April 25–29, 2020 at Marina Bay Sands.

As INTA said in a press release, this will likely be the primary meeting in Southeast Asia.

The annual meeting, which brings together 11,000 trademark and mental property (IP) professionals from over 150 countries, was held in Asia for the primary time in 2014 in Hong Kong.

“Following this successful event, the INTA Board approved a rotation strategy whereby the annual meeting will be held outside the United States every three years,” the association said.

Singapore was chosen because the venue for the 2020 meeting because of its “vibrant environment, cultural diversity, easy accessibility and achievements in the field of intellectual property,” said INTA, which recently opened an Asia-Pacific office within the country in March last yr.

Registration for the Singapore event will open in January next yr, with pre-sale tickets available at the subsequent INTA Annual Meeting in Boston.
