It is the healthiest country in Asia

Singapore is the healthiest country in Asia and the fourth healthiest on the planet, in line with a brand new Bloomberg index.

In the Bloomberg Healthiest Country Index 2017, published in a report on Monday (March 20), the country overtook countries equivalent to Australia (fifth place), Japan (seventh place), New Zealand (nineteenth place) and the United States (thirty fourth place), losing only to Italy, Iceland and Switzerland.

Based on information from the World Health Organization, the United Nations and the World Bank, the index ranked 163 countries based on aspects equivalent to life expectancy, causes of death and health risks equivalent to hypertension, smoking, malnutrition and access to scrub water.

Each country was given a health rating equal to its rating on these variables minus the health risk penalties.
