LIVING in Brunei Darussalam for over 24 years has made Kathy Dupaya and her family realize that the country offers a singular peace and quiet. In order to advertise the Sultanate as a brand new tourist destination for Filipinos, Kathy – owner of MK Group – has invited many Filipino celebrities to remain in Brunei.
The invitees included Sunshine Cruz, Ara Mina, Ynez Veneracoin, Ian Veneracoin, Joross Gamboa, GMA 7 anchor Mel Tiangco, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach and most recently Maxine Medina, Miss Philippines 2016, who placed in the highest six within the sixty fifth Miss Universe pageant.
Speaking to the Bulletin before returning home, Maxine said she enjoyed the “picturesque views and tranquility in Brunei”.
“It is very harmonious and peaceful here, which allows me to relax and go anywhere without worrying about safety.”
“The people of Brunei are also very hospitable and kind,” she added.
In an interview, Kathy said, “After their first short visit, Filipino celebrities always come back. In fact, some will visit Brunei in April during a week-long vacation in the Philippines.”
When asked about Brunei Darussalam, the successful businesswoman said, “I love Brunei and it really feels like home. I have traveled all over the world and there is no place that can compare to Brunei. The standard of living is really affordable and I can relax with peace of mind because it is peaceful and safe here.”
In addition to introducing Brunei Darussalam to the Filipino people, Kathy has also been helping Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in Brunei Darussalam and the United States who’re in need of assistance. For her gesture, she has received two awards in recent times, namely the “2015 Most Outstanding Filipino in the Field of Resiliency” on the Gawad Amerika Awards within the United States and the “World Class Achiever in the Field of Empowerment” award from the World Class Excellence Japan Awards (WCEJA) in Japan.
In recognition of her achievements, Kathy is anticipated to receive an award from Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte in Davao City, Philippines in March this yr.
