Twins from China, separated at birth and adopted by two different families within the U.S., met for the primary time.
Identical 10-year-olds Audrey Doering and Gracie Rainsberry hugged and cried as they met for the primary time on ABC’s Good Morning America.
They grew up lots of of miles apart and were adopted shortly after birth by two different families – Audrey from Wausau, Wisconsin, and Gracie from Richland, Washington.
Neither of the ladies’ families knew that they had siblings until December, when Audrey’s mother found a photograph of each girls after they were babies, posing with their Chinese foster mother.
Jennifer Doering became serious about her daughter’s past when she was trying to seek out a Christmas present for her. She wanted to offer her daughter a replica of her “found notice”—a photograph that’s published in Chinese newspapers when a toddler is placed in an orphanage.
With the assistance of a Chinese researcher, she discovered a photograph of her daughter sitting on the lap of a Chinese surrogate mother who was carrying one other baby who looked similar to Audrey.
“As soon as I had that picture, I wanted to seek out out … who that other child was,” Doering said, in response to ABC News.
