Indonesian students advance to second round of Airbus competition after beating 300 finalists

Indonesian students from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Diponegoro University (Undip) took part within the second round of the worldwide aviation competition organized by the aerospace company Airbus Group, sources reported.

The students were divided into three teams: Garuda Ganesha and Pocket Rocket from ITB and Swing from Undip.

The Airbus Fly Your Ideas competition, organised in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), challenged students from around the globe to give you latest and revolutionary ideas related to the aviation industry, including flight operation efficiency, latest passenger service systems and revolutionary business models.

The Indonesian teams proposed three different ideas: a brand new overhead luggage concept to enhance passenger comfort and cargo efficiency, a man-made intelligence program to enhance fuel efficiency and aerodynamics, and the event of Airbus Skyland, a revenue-generating marketing theme park where unused Airbus aircraft can find latest life.

The ideas were assessed by a gaggle of 60 Airbus experts, with the assessment process going down in 4 different Airbus locations: France, Germany, Spain and the UK.

Airbus Executive Vice President of Engineering Charles Champion said in a press release that the competition gave students the chance to interact with senior professionals. “In turn, these experts will benefit from direct interaction with young talent from around the world who share the same passion for one of the most exciting industries in the world.”

In the second round, teams will begin developing ideas and sharing updates via photos, sketches, and stories concerning the program. websitethrough which five teams can be chosen to advance to the third round.

Participants who make it to the ultimate round can be given the chance to spend every week at ProtoSpace’s headquarters in Toulouse, France, to prototype their ideas. The competition is scheduled to be announced in May 2017, and the winners will receive a prize of €30,000 ($31,317).
