Every two years, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) publishes Occupational Salary Survey (OWS)which presents the typical monthly salary for various positions in various industries.
The data generated by OWS covers establishments employing at the least 20 employees and constitutes the idea for wage policy throughout the country.
“Statistics on wage rates are useful economic indicators,” the PSA said in a press release. “In particular, occupational wage rates can be used to measure wage differences, wage inequalities in typical low- and high-wage occupations, and for international comparability.”
The latest OWS survey covering pay rates for July 2016 reveals that aircraft pilots, navigators and flight engineers are the very best paid employees within the country, with a mean monthly salary of PHP 116,714 (USD 2,290.14).
While they maintained their leading position from the previous survey in 2014, their average salary dropped from PHP156,823 (USD3,075.63) last yr.
Four of the highest 10 positions were taken by positions within the financial sector. These include securities and financial dealers and brokers, who jointly took second place with a mean monthly salary of PHP89,831 (USD1,762.30).
In third place were civil engineers within the water collection sector who receive a mean of PHP 68,957 (USD 1,352.80) per 30 days.

The average monthly wage rate across greater than 400 occupations covered by the 2016 OWS survey is PHP15,375 (USD301.6), up barely from PHP14,116 (USD276.9) within the previous OWS survey.
