Vietnam was recognized because the country with the bottom price on this planet for 4 years in a row. The recognition as the most affordable place to live for expats relies on the Expat Insider 2024 study conducted by InterNations.
In this study, Vietnam secured the highest position within the Personal Finance Index, as detailed within the recently published annual report.
Vietnam’s continued position at the highest of the survey highlights its affordability for expats. According to Expat Insider 2024, 86% of expats found life in Vietnam comfortable and inexpensive, which is greater than double the worldwide average of 40%.
Expatriate women participating within the study also found the price of living in Vietnam to be extremely favorable, exceeding the worldwide average by 12%.
International survey: Measuring satisfaction with personal funds
The InterNations study aimed to measure the non-public finance index by rating the extent of non-public satisfaction in three key areas: total cost of living, satisfaction with one’s financial situation and whether one’s income is sufficient to live comfortably.
According to Forbes, an American expat living in Vietnam mentioned that the Vietnamese are extremely friendly and the every day cost of living may be very low. Additionally, Vietnam is a preferred selection amongst expats for a wide range of reasons.
One of the important the explanation why expats select Vietnam as their house is financial, as many move to Vietnam in the hunt for cheaper living conditions.

Financial advantages, increasing job satisfaction and challenges in Vietnam
About 3% of emigrants selected Vietnam as their place of residence for financial reasons. Vietnam offers a balance between ease and quality of life that may be very attractive to expats.
This has led to a major increase in job satisfaction, with Vietnam’s position rising dramatically from twenty fourth to third place in 2024.
However, the choice to live and settle in Vietnam will not be without its challenges for expatriates. Vietnam presents us with various life challenges. According to the Quality of Life Index, Vietnam ranks fortieth out of 53 countries included within the index.
Expatriates have expressed deep concerns about air quality in Vietnam. Moreover, urban environments and the provision of green goods and services are also areas of interest for expatriates.
Asian countries proceed to dominate the list of hottest expat travel destinations, with several Southeast Asian countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines making the highest ten.
