Ukraine issues a limited edition postage stamp in honor of the brand new president of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto

The Ukrainian state post office Ukrposhta has issued a limited edition stamp depicting the eighth president of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. The stamp was issued on the occasion of the inauguration of Prabowo, which took place on October 20.

According to a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Kiev on Friday, November 8, the initiative for the stamp got here from the Ukrainian Initiative, a non-governmental organization led by Indonesian Yuri Kosenko.

According to Antara, Kosenko said that the stamp is a tribute to the brand new leader of Indonesia and an emblem of friendship between Indonesia and Ukraine. Indonesian ambassador to Ukraine Arief Basalamah received a stamp on the Ukrposhta office in Nijin in October last 12 months. During the event, Arief expressed appreciation to Ukrposhta and the Ukrainian Initiative for this gesture and reaffirmed Indonesia’s readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Ukraine in various fields under the administration of President Prabowo Subianto.

This special edition stamp, although limited, may be officially utilized in postal services throughout Ukraine. The Indonesian Embassy in Kiev also announced the launch of the stamp via its official social media account @indonesiainkyiv.

The initiative reflects Ukraine’s support for Indonesia’s leadership and symbolizes the strengthening diplomatic ties between the 2 countries.

According to CNBC Indonesia, Prabowo has previously faced criticism from Kiev for its comments throughout the 2023 Shangri-La Dialogue on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. During his term as defense minister, Prabowo proposed organizing a referendum, which Kiev strongly opposed.

However, after being elected president, Prabovo received congratulations from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who reportedly also discussed peaceful solutions to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict with Prabovo.

Additionally, Indonesia has historical ties with Ukraine, especially during Ukraine’s war with Russia. Prabowo’s predecessor, President Joko Widodo, became the primary Asian leader to go to Ukraine after the war began in June 2022.
