Strengthening ties: President Prabowo accepts credentials from seven latest ambassadors at Merdeka Palace

On Monday, November 4, 2024, President Prabowo Subianto officially accepted the credentials of seven newly appointed Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of friendly Nations during a solemn ceremony held on the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

The Credential Ceremony is a key diplomatic tradition that marks the start of ambassadors’ official duties in Indonesia.

The event began with the arrival of the ambassadors on the Merdeka Palace, where the national anthems of every country were played as an indication of respect and a logo of international friendship.

This moment further strengthens Indonesia’s diplomatic relations with partner countries and underlines the federal government’s commitment to foster closer cooperation in various fields.

According to the State Secretariat of the Ministry of Indonesia, the next ambassadors presented their credentials to President Prabowo Subianto:

1. Marc Gerritsen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Designated Resident of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Indonesia;

2. Roberto Sarmento de Oliveira Soares, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Designated Resident of the Democratic Republic of East Timor to the Republic of Indonesia;

3. Martin Makururu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Designated Resident of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the Republic of Indonesia;

4. Oybek Eshonov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Designated Resident of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Indonesia;

5. Wang Lutong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Resident Designate of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Indonesia;

6. Abdelouahab Osmane, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Designated Resident of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Republic of Indonesia;

7. Enkhtaivan Dashnyam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Designated Resident of Mongolia to the Republic of Indonesia.

President Prabowo Subianto accompanied key officials on the ceremony, including Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The presentation of credentials marks the official commencement of ambassadorial duties.

After handing over the letters, the ambassadors said goodbye to President Prabowo Subianto and listened to the Indonesian anthem “Indonesia Raya”. This occasion sets the stage for continued strong diplomatic relations between Indonesia and these nations.
