In a strategic move to revitalize the tourism sector, the Myanmar government has implemented a visa-free policy for residents of ASEAN member countries. The policy covers eight countries – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and Laos – and goals to strengthen regional integration and increase the variety of foreign visitors.
We hope that with this recent facility, more guests will probably be encouraged to explore Myanmar’s cultural richness, natural landscapes and diverse culinary offerings.

Myanmar’s visa-free policy provides easier access for residents of Singapore and Vietnam, allowing them to remain for as much as 30 days. Whether for tourism or business purposes, residents of each countries can enter Myanmar by land, air or sea.
However, it needs to be noted that the visa-free regime for residents of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines and Thailand is different from that in Singapore and Vietnam. Travelers from these countries can stay in Myanmar for a maximum of 14 days. They are also restricted to certain entry points, including Yangon International Airport, Nay Pyi Taw International Airport and Mandalay International Airport.

This policy was introduced in response to Myanmar’s rapidly growing tourism sector. The data shows a major increase in international tourist visits in 2022, with a remarkable increase of 78% in comparison with the previous 12 months.
