The Thai tourism industry is experiencing a rare renaissance. With over 31 million international arrivals already recorded in 2024, the country is on target to exceed the year-end goal of 36 million guests. This surge in tourism has brought significant economic advantages, injecting an estimated 1.46 trillion baht ($42.3 billion) into the economy.
But Thailand doesn’t end there. The government has declared 2025 as “Thailand’s Amazing Big Year of Tourism and Sports”, aiming to draw a record 40 million tourists and generate revenue of three.4 trillion baht.

To achieve this ambitious goal, Thailand is implementing a multi-faceted strategy:
- Promoting essential events: High-profile events reminiscent of MotoGP races and the colourful Songkran festival can be used to draw international attention.
- Improving the visitor experience: Modernizing infrastructure and streamlining visa processes, including a typical pan-ASEAN visa policy, will make traveling to and inside Thailand smoother and more enjoyable.
- Launching targeted campaigns: Five principal campaigns – Grand Celebration, Grand Moment, Grand Privilege, Grand Invitation and Grand Celebration – will showcase Thailand’s diverse offerings and supply enticing incentives for travelers.
By combining exciting events with a concentrate on improving the general visitor experience, Thailand creates a vibrant and welcoming environment for tourists. This proactive approach is vital to achieving the country’s ambitious tourism goals and strengthening its position as a number one global travel destination.
