Amanda Nguyễn is a unprecedented figure, often known as a civil rights activist and founding father of the nonprofit organization Rise. Her story begins with traumatic experiences as a student at Harvard, where she was the victim of rape.
Although she filed her case quickly and went through the legal process, the unfavorable legal system only increased her emotional burden.
At the time, Massachusetts only kept evidence, equivalent to rape kits, for six months unless the victim actively renewed her request. This injustice prompted Amanda to take motion. This is one in every of the few pieces of laws to receive bipartisan approval within the U.S. Congress, demonstrating the impact of Amanda’s advocacy.
Amanda’s success didn’t end within the USA. She pushed for change on a world scale, working with the United Nations to introduce a resolution on the rights of survivors of sexual violence, making her cause relevant to thousands and thousands of individuals all over the world.
