Indonesia introduces MaiA, an AI assistant for personalized tourism

Indonesia is strengthening its commitment to digital transformation within the tourism sector with a launch Have (Indonesia’s meticulous artificial intelligence).

This AI-powered initiative was presented directly by Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhan at an event titled “Transforming travel beyond the extraordinary through intelligence” on the Sapta Pesona constructing in Jakarta (November 28).

The launch marks a key milestone within the implementation of the priority Tourism 5.0 program, which focuses on improving the standard of domestic tourism services through smart and adaptive technologies.

A digital platform for a more modern travel experience

MaiA is designed as a man-made intelligence platform accessible through indonesia.travel. Its presence goals to enhance the standard of services while simplifying tourists’ travel in Indonesia.

In her remarks, Minister Widiyanti emphasized that the technology represents a concrete commitment by the federal government to construct a tourism ecosystem that’s “smart, inclusive and sustainable.”

MaiA: the digital travel companion

Minister Widiyanti explained that MaiA shouldn’t be just a brand new innovation but an emblem of a renewed spirit within the country’s tourism services. The technology was developed as a digital companion that’s capable of understand travelers’ needs on a private level.

From providing travel inspiration and mechanically generating itineraries to accompanying tourists on their travels around Indonesia, MaiA is designed to make traveling more comfortable and assured.

“This is our step towards shaping tourism that is not only beautiful to look at, but also smart and inclusive for all,” she said.

As an emblem of the digital transformation of the tourism sector, MaiA also strengthens the connection between travelers and Indonesia’s cultural richness, experiences and stories.

The platform serves as each an intelligent curator and digital travel companion with key features comparable to personalized destination recommendations, automatic itinerary creation, interactive maps and multilingual destination information summaries.

Responding to global trends in traveler behavior

Tourism Minister Widiyanti emphasized that the event of MaiA is a direct response to changing travel behavior around the globe, where visitors are increasingly in search of more personal, efficient and accessible travel.

MaiA’s presence is anticipated to reinforce Indonesia’s international competitiveness while strengthening the federal government’s efforts to advertise sustainable and user-friendly tourism.
