Malaysia and Indonesia have agreed to renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) within the energy sector signed in 1997.
In a Facebook post, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the problem was discussed during today’s meeting with Indonesia’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.
The meeting also discussed strategies to strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially regarding implementation features, coordination with relevant authorities and potential strategic investments, he added.
“The outcomes of these discussions will be translated into further actions between the two countries as efforts to further revitalize the industrial and energy sectors in the ASEAN region,” he said.
Fadillah, who can be Minister of Energy and Water Transformation, is on a working visit to Indonesia to strengthen strategic cooperation within the energy sector between the 2 countries.
Also present on the meeting were Sarawak Deputy Minister of Public Utilities (Sarawak Affairs for Energy and PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin and Deputy Secretary-General for Energy and Water Transformation (PETRA) Mareena Mahpudz.
