A prototype of the long run Bandung transit has been unveiled

The project’s monthly Bandung Light Rail Transit (LRT) train is made available to the general public using local technology. The prototype of the vehicle, called Metro Kapsul, was placed on public display next to town’s principal square. Construction is scheduled to start out later this 12 months and includes five firms: PT Teknik Rekayasa Kereta Kapsul – technical design, PT Kereta Kapsul Manufaktur – assembly production, PT Metro Putra Perkasa – powertrain production, PT Indoserako Sejahtera – control system and PT Pembangunan Perumahan Infrastruktur for construction and construction works.

Unlike general LRT technology, the Metro Kapsul train can be very efficient because it will use an on-wheel engine. Powered by electricity that goes on to the engine and moves the wheels. Unlike other LRT systems where electricity goes to the engine, then to the transmission, then to the automotive.

The LRT specification will use locally developed technology as seen within the prototype. Measure 9.3 m long and a couple of.5 m wide. Blue and grey dominate, combined with the Bandung City logo on the appropriate side of the subway. Inside there may be a big passenger seat, also equipped with a handle for a standing passenger and equipped with an LCD screen. Just just like the regular TMB bus model.

It weighs 7.5 tons, half the load of a typical LRT, and the pillars of its elevated tracks are also smaller. Maximum power consumption is 70 to 80 kilowatts, while in motion it is just 30 to 4 kilowatts.

The project cost shall be roughly IDR 200 billion (US$15 million) per kilometer. The company obtained a patent for an operating system that allowed for savings on the train’s supporting structure. Moreover, the LRT train can be lighter than a typical LRT train since the supporting structure and pillars also required less money.

Leonardo Feneri, CEO of PT Pembangunan Perumahan, said the prototype was placed on public display to encourage the general public to take part in the project. In addition, Bandung City Mayor Ridwan Kamil posted a photograph on his personal Instagram account to socialize and attract public attention. “People need socialization to discover something new. Well, that’s part of my kind of socialization. This is a new commodity for the citizen who should be able to see its original appearance (capsule, red). After seeing the prototype, they can provide comments or comments so that it can be built quickly and better,” Emil said on merdeka.com.
