The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) World Humanitarian Aid Index measures how many individuals donate to good causes, volunteer and help others.
According to CAF, while the decline is global, the drop is most noticeable amongst developed countries. Only six G20 countries are in the highest 20, and all have seen a drop of their World Giving Index. The US, UK and Australia have all fallen three places, while New Zealand, even though it stays in fourth place, has seen its rating fall by two percentage points.
