PT Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) and Pelindo announce world-class marina development in Bali
PT Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) and Pelindo have unveiled plans to construct a world-class, full-service marina in Bali. The marina is predicted to set a brand new standard within the Indonesian yacht tourism industry.
It could have 180 berths to accommodate greater than 50 superyachts, each as much as 90 meters in length, making Indonesia a number one international sailing destination.
The marina may even provide modern facilities for servicing yachts, including a service elevator with a capability of as much as 200 tons and a high-quality fuel station. These facilities are intended for each international and domestic yacht owners, offering the very best level of services tailored to their needs.

A first-class marina for the Indonesian yachting industry
According to IconomicsUlf Backlund, president and director of Marina Development Indonesia, noted Indonesia’s growing attractiveness within the international sailing community.
The growing demand clearly shows that Indonesia deserves a top-class marina that can meet the expectations of world yacht owners.
“Indonesia deserves a top-class marina that reflects its status as the world’s new yachting paradise,” said Ulf Backlund, highlighting the country’s potential as a serious player within the international yachting industry.
Strategically positioned marina in Benoa
Strategically positioned in Benoa, just quarter-hour from Bali International Airport, the marina will develop into a serious yachting hub within the region. Known because the Bali Maritime Tourism Center (BMTH), the power goals to draw and serve yacht owners from all over the world, further enhancing Bali’s fame as a number one maritime tourism destination.
To develop this project, MDI partnered with firms akin to SF Marina, known for constructing floating breakwaters and concrete pontoons.
SF Marina, a Swedish company with over a century of experience, is collaborating to construct the marina to global standards, using locally produced components through its Indonesian partner, SF Marina Indonesia. Notable SF Marina projects include Pier 66 and Marina Port Vell in Barcelona.
Additionally, MDI joined forces with Plus Marine, an Italian marine services company, to put in power and water pylons together with distant monitoring systems using SmartCloud technology.

Strengthening Indonesia’s position in the worldwide maritime industry
According to IconomicsPelindo President, Director Arif Suhartono emphasized the importance of this marina project in positioning Indonesia as a key player in the worldwide marina industry.
“The new Bali marina realizes our vision of positioning Indonesia as a key player in the global marina industry, combining luxury experiences, first-class services and world-class infrastructure,” Suhartono said.
The marina has been designed to supply an unrivaled luxury experience to yacht owners all over the world, while ensuring the very best standards of safety.

Supporting Indonesia’s tourism and economic growth
In addition to attracting international yacht owners, the marina may even function a base for Indonesian-flagged yachts. According to Joko Noerhudh, CEO of Pelindo Solusi Logistik, the marina is predicted to make a big contribution to Indonesia’s tourism and economic sectors.
“This marina will not only attract international yacht owners, but also provide a unique base for Indonesian-flagged yachts,” Joko said, emphasizing the marina’s importance in developing Indonesia’s national maritime tourism infrastructure.
The latest marina is scheduled to start operations within the second half of 2025, and the primary moorings will likely be able to accommodate yachts. Full capability, able to accommodating each international and domestic yachts, is predicted to be reached by mid-2026.
