This yr’s list of the 25 best destinations on the planet for the TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Awards has been announced. And while the list includes tried-and-true favorites like Paris and London, there are a couple of more standouts this yr, like Hurghada in Egypt and Jamaica, that do not normally make lists like this.
But let’s get back to the winners.
The city of lights (or romance, depending on which way you take a look at it) Paris appears as destination #1. Flight prices drop below $1,000 round-trip. It can also be becoming a less expensive holiday destination for Australians. Want to get there before the news gets out? Currently, Qatar Airways offers flights to Paris over Christmas and New Year for lower than $1,200 round-trip. True story.
Silver is won by the capital of Great Britain, London, which is a continuing favorite of the Australians. Rome rounds out the highest three, making it a top three European destination.
However, Bali ranks 4th within the Asia-Pacific region, while the European paradise island of Crete ranks fifth.
It could seem that Europe dominates our feeds in the mean time, but only 8 of the 25 places on the list are positioned in Europe. This includes Istanbul, which lies on the border of the European and Asian continents.
Other Asian destinations that caught travelers’ attention include Phuket (No. 11), Hanoi (No. 12), Siem Reap (No. 13), Tokyo (No. 18), Kathmandu (No. 19), Hong Kong (No. 20), New Delhi ( No. 22), which is nice news for Australians because these are a few of the most cost effective destinations for us due to the support of low-cost carriers resembling Scoot, AirAsia and Jetstar.
Sydney was the one Australian city on the list. If it makes us feel any higher, New York was the one city in North America to accomplish that as well.
Here’s the complete list.
