Southeast Asia Winners at Inflight Asia-Pacific 2018 Awards

The winners of the 2018 Inflight Asia-Pacific Awards have been announced, with Singapore Airlines winning the celebrated title of ‘Inflight Airlines of the Year’.

The annual awards recognize outstanding contributions to improving the passenger experience within the areas of in-flight entertainment, connectivity and cabin technology.

Winning this award complements Singapore Airlines’ achievements over the past yr, including the recent introduction of the world’s longest flight from Singapore to New York and the introduction of latest services and products on board the A380, including GX Aviation broadband and myKrisWorld – a customized IFE Experience service.

It was a day to recollect for Singapore Airlines as its A380 fleet with six recent suites earned the airline its second “Commercial Cabin” award. The judges praised the product designed by PierreJean Design for its “unparalleled luxury and privacy.”

Other airline winners were AirAsia (Rokki) within the ‘IFEC Airline Experience’ category for its continuous improvement of the IFEC platform, including the recent addition of SportsFix – a first-of-its-kind collaboration in Southeast Asia, providing free Wi-Fi to BIG members and the screening of an animated series Agent Ali.

Thales held off fierce competition and claimed the award within the ‘IFE system supplier’ category. The AVANT IFE system with its customizable applications continues to achieve popularity within the region, with Vietnam Airlines choosing it for its recent 787-10 Dreamliner and Hong Kong Airlines choosing it for its recent A350 and A330 aircraft.

The ‘Enabling Connectivity’ award was presented to Panasonic Avionics in recognition of its large installed base of products within the region and ongoing commitment to the APAC region.

Global Eagle was announced because the winner of the Content Delivery category, recognizing its contribution to content creation and delivery. Global Eagle’s latest products include Air Cities, which uses TripAdvisor content and is accessible on Jet Airways, recent in-flight gaming licensing agreements with branded entertainment company Hasbro and Japanese brand Sanrio, and a contract renewal with ANA.

This yr’s final winner was IMM Digital, which received the “Supplier Innovation” award. This award is recent to the Inflight Asia-Pacific Awards 2018 and honors essentially the most revolutionary development of IFEC or cabin technology within the last 12 months. AirSAS, using IMM Digital technology, places ads based on passengers’ nationality, age, gender or route without the required in-flight connectivity, collects all analytics and aggregates them within the office.
