On Thursday (28/12/2023), PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia or InJourney officially merged PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) and PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) into PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia or InJourney Airports. InJourney Airports, in addition to PT Integrasi Aviasi Solusi or InJourney Aviation Services (IAS), will turn into subsidiaries of InJourney Group, marking a transformative step within the aviation and airport industry.
InJourney CEO Dony Oskaria said the merger will make InJourney Airports the fifth largest airport operator on the earth, serving 172 million passengers annually. This figure surpasses other airport operators corresponding to Vinci Airport from France or GMR Airport from India. Dony mentioned that InJourney Airports goals to turn into the third largest airport operator on the earth in the approaching years. He emphasized that the creation of InJourney Airports will make the airports belonging to the InJourney Group healthier and more profitable.
“Several steps that InJourney Airports will take will include improving services, transforming business strategies and strengthening operational quality to make the airports the face of the country,” Dony said in his official statement on Thursday (December 28, 2023). Dony hoped that the creation of InJourney Airports would improve service quality by providing travelers with a consistent experience in any respect airports in Indonesia through standardized operating systems and policies.
He believed that by providing a greater and uniform experience in any respect airports and organizing your complete tourism sector, the potential to draw tourists would increase significantly. Moreover, all these transformation efforts would bring various recent advantages, especially in the supply of services to airport users.
“The integration of airports will certainly improve domestic and international connections, improve customer service and strengthen the company’s financial performance,” Dony said. Meanwhile, Deputy Minister for State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Kartika Wirjoatmodjo explained her ongoing efforts to consolidate and simplify the variety of state-owned enterprises (BUMN). This is consistent with President Joko Widodo’s direction of accelerating domestic economic growth.
Tiko added that the creation of InJourney airports would have a positive impact on the share of GDP that comes from the tourism sector, increasing it from 5% to 10%.
“We will make the tourism sector an economic engine, and airports will play a key role in this,” he noted. Meanwhile, IAS operates in the realm of aviation support services, cargo and logistics, transforming right into a simpler and efficient business chain.
InJourney Airport Services will strengthen its core business portfolio, which incorporates transportation and logistics, ground handling, hospitality and operational support, by providing skilled services and delivering competitive products to each the Indonesian and global markets.
