According to CNN, chaos broke out on an AirAsia Thai flight from Bangkok to Phuket after passengers discovered a live snake within the overhead luggage compartment.
CNN reported that the incident occurred on January 13 during flight FD3015.
A video believed to be from the incident, shared by Malaysian news site UtusanTV on TikTok, shows a small snake slithering above an overhead garbage bin.
The recording shows a stewardess attempting to catch the animal with a water bottle after which using a garbage bag.
TikTok users within the comments referenced the 2006 film “Snakes on a Plane,” starring Samuel L. Jackson and which depicted dozens of venomous snakes released into an airliner.

In an announcement to CNN, the airline’s chief corporate security officer Phol Poompuang said the snake sighting was a “very rare incident” and that flight attendants are “well trained in methods to deal” with such an incident.
Phol also told CNN that some passengers were moved from the world as a precautionary measure and that the plane landed without incident.
The airline said that when on the bottom, the plane was inspected by engineering and safety teams after which thoroughly cleaned and fumigated before it resumed flights, CNN reported.
It is unclear what variety of snake it was.
Business Insider reached out to AirAsia Thailand to verify whether the video depicts the Jan. 13 incident, however the airline didn’t immediately reply to BI’s request for comment.
