In a bid to extend its tourist attractiveness, Thailand has announced an interesting plan to offer free SIM cards to foreign tourists visiting the country. The campaign, titled “Welcome Back to Thailand”, is a collaboration between the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Advanced Info Service (AIS).
According to a report by The Thaiger, the joint initiative goals to draw international visitors by providing them with Amazing Thaiger SIM cards that provide various advantages and digital services.
As per the plans, TAT will distribute 1 million mobile SIM cards with the additional advantage of exclusive e-vouchers from various cooperation partners. Distribution is scheduled to begin on Tuesday (October 17) and can last until March 31, 2027.
The distribution of SIM cards is organized by TAT’s regional office for South Asia and the Pacific in cooperation with various international travel agencies, airlines and related associations.
Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, TAT’s deputy governor for international marketing within the South Asia-Pacific region, explained that this campaign move is a crucial technique to revitalize Thailand’s tourism sector at the top of the 12 months.
The campaign also encourages foreign tourists planning to go to Thailand to participate via leading online travel agency (OTA) platforms of their countries.
When purchasing goods or services through these OTAs, travelers will give you the chance to make use of their Amazing Thai SIM card without cost. The card provides fast Internet access with as much as 8 GB of knowledge through the free trial period.
The card gives travelers access to a big selection of streaming services via dedicated apps.
Other advantages include travel insurance as much as 50,000 baht, corresponding to roughly US$1,384, in addition to discounts on shopping, accommodation at leading hotels and meals at top restaurants.
