An Indonesian YouTuber is under fire for a video showing his daughter on a jet ski and not using a life jacket

Some Indonesian A YouTuber is facing backlash for filming himself taking his young daughter jetskiing.

Ria Ricis, who has 30.8 million subscribers on her YouTube channel Ricis Officer, often posts content about raising her daughter Moana.

On January 1, she posted a video on YouTube a couple of jet ski trip she went on along with her daughter and husband Teuku Ryan. In the YouTube clips, Moana is wearing a life jacket, but in an extra video that Ricis posted to her Instagram account, Ryan holds Moana in a single hand and controls the jet ski with the opposite. The video received over 1 million views.

On January 2, the YouTuber shared a clip of the ride on Instagram with a caption in Indonesian: “Moana loves riding her jet ski.”

While Moana might be seen wearing a life jacket in among the jet ski ride clips on the YouTuber’s vlog, the newborn wasn’t wearing one in Rica’s Instagram post.

Many comments on the post, written in Indonesian but translated via the app, expressed concern in regards to the YouTuber’s actions.

Rica’s Instagram video clips were reposted by other users to Twitter, where they went viral, receiving tens of millions of views and attracting increasing negative attention from commenters who wrote mostly in Indonesian.

“At least wear a life jacket. A child is the most precious treasure you have in the world. What if you fall and get hit by a jet ski fan?” – said one among the commentators.

“I think the stupidest people are people who ride motorcycles with children. It’s a jet ski, my god,” one other user said.

Other users said they didn’t think people should judge how other people select to boost their children.

“Leave them alone. They have the precise to do whatever they need. I wish all of them the perfect,” one Twitter user wrote in English.

According to many jet ski web sites, there are not any laws prohibiting parents from taking their child on a jet ski, but most jet ski manufacturers’ guidelines recommend that each one passengers have the ability to securely reach the vehicle’s leg floor with each feet.

Ria Ricis didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment.
