The soon-to-open Jagat Satwa Nusantara Bird Park isn’t only home to many beautiful Indonesian birds and endemic species. Jagat Satwa Nusantara also has the excellence of being a refuge for Indonesia’s endemic bird species, Myzomela rote (Myzomela irianavidoae)which may only be present in wildlife reserves throughout the country.
The bird was named by a number one BRIN researcher, Prof. Dewi M. Prawiradilaga, in recognition of the present First Lady of Indonesia, Iriana Joko Widodo. The bird was discovered on Red Island in 2018.
In this bird park, visitors have the rare opportunity to witness and learn more in regards to the number of rare bird species that inhabit the archipelago.
As a wildlife reserve, the Jagat Satwa Nusantara Bird Park has also successfully introduced the Jagat hawk (Nisaetus made the exchange) breeding program, which resulted in a further population of two birds.
This is a major achievement for Jagat Satwa Nusantara in his efforts to guard endangered species. This step not only speaks to environmental responsibility, but can also be an inspiring concrete effort to guard biodiversity.
With this commendable achievement, Jagat Satwa Nusantara sees the inauguration of the brand new face of TMII (Taman Mini Indonesia Indah) as essentially the most appropriate moment to call the pair Javan Hawks. Jagat Satwa Nusantara hopes that the President of the Republic of Indonesia will have the option to call this Javanese eagle.
The Javan eagle itself is a novel creature, found only in its natural habitat on the island of Java, where it breeds only every year. However, on this sanctuary he managed to realize the extraordinary feat of incubating 3-4 eggs at a time. This success further strengthens the necessary role of conservation organizations in conserving and protecting this endangered species.
