The portrait of Jakarta’s past may recall to mind Indonesians’ childhood memories. An old photo of street life in Jakarta from the Nineteen Sixties to the Nineties attracted numerous attention.
Circa 1995, it is a view of Jend. Sudirman Street in Jakarta. Still, few people in Jakarta own four- or two-wheeled vehicles, in order that they should use public transport. You can see a bus with trip number 213, direction Malayu – Grogol.

The title of this photo is “Rooms katholieke kerk te Batavia”. It is a long-standing cathedral church in Jakarta that was demolished in 1890 and replaced by the present cathedral church. The atmosphere remains to be as peaceful and delightful as within the village.
Let’s thank those that have worked hard previously to capture the atmosphere of Jakarta. They allow the present generation to grasp what the atmosphere of the beloved city of the past was like.
