Indonesia will construct the biggest satellite in Asia

The Government of Indonesia has signed public-private partnership (PPP) partnership, guarantee and recourse agreements under the Satellite Multi-Function Project (SMF). The satellite, called Satelit Republik Indonesia (SATRIA), will likely be inbuilt late 2019 by French satellite manufacturer Thales Alenia Space.

“The SMF project is one of the National Strategic Projects included in Presidential Regulation No. 56/2018,” said Coordinating Minister for Economy Darmin Nasution after signing the PPP on the National Museum in Jakarta on Friday (May 3).

“I believe that developing infrastructure means investing to support better economic activity among society.”

According to Minister of Communications and Information Rudiantara, Satria is predicted to be the biggest satellite in Asia by way of capability. Globally, it ranks fifth in the identical category.

SATRIA is predicted to be ready for launch 146 within the second quarter of 2022. This will likely be followed by a Ka-band satellite with a really high throughput satellite technology with a capability of 150 Gbps in early 2023.
