First there was Dallas and Los Angeles. Now Uber wants a 3rd city to supply air taxi services and is looking internationally for an answer.

This week, Uber announced its shortlist of nations the ride-hailing app will partner with to launch its aviation project UberAira shared flight network of electrical vertical take-off and landing (e-VTOL) aircraft.

According to Possibility of mashingthe planes are expected to fly at a speed of about 320 km/h and reach an altitude of about 300-600 meters. Electric planes will fly 96 km on a single charge.

The countries were announced on the Uber Elevate Asia Pacific Expo in Japan. The list includes Japan and the cities of Tokyo and Osaka; India with Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore; Australia in Melbourne or Sydney; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Paris, France, where Uber has already announced Center for Advanced Technologies to research and develop flying cars.

Uber chosen the five countries based on criteria comparable to population and lack of utmost weather conditions. Uber says it also wants “polycentric” regions (urban areas made up of multiple cities) and prefers to work with cities that already work well with Uber on the road.
