Singapore and Indonesia sign a cooperation agreement on health promotion

Singapore and Indonesia will work together to stop and control diseases, promote healthy lifestyles and develop human resources under a brand new memorandum of understanding (MOU).

Health Minister Gan Kim Yong and his Indonesian counterpart Dr. Nila Djuwita Farid Moeloek signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the sphere of health during a bilateral meeting held on Wednesday (May 22) in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Ministry of Health said the 2 ministers were present on the 72nd World Health Assembly, where they reaffirmed the wonderful health relations between Singapore and Indonesia and agreed on the importance of regional cooperation and coordination within the fight against infectious diseases.

Building on a ministerial conference held in Singapore last yr to debate diabetes, health ministers also shared their concerns and plans to combat non-communicable diseases and exchanged ideas for promoting healthy lifestyles.

“Singapore looks forward to deepening health ties with Indonesia under the auspices of the newly signed MoU,” the Ministry of Health said.
