Southeast Asia’s demand for technology talent for online recruitment within the IT and telecommunications industries continues to grow as organizations expand their technology capabilities within the region.
In line with the positive trend seen in January 2018, each Singapore and Malaysia recorded double-digit annual growth of twenty-two% and 52% respectively in February.
That’s in line with the newest Monster Employment Index (MEI), a monthly gauge of online recruiting activity in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines tracked by Monster.com. It comprises data on overall recruitment activity in each country, in addition to detailed data within the IT, Telecom/ISP and BPO/ITES industries.
Similar to the sentiment in January, the Philippines lagged behind each countries, recording an annual decline of two% in February 2018.
IT, TELECOMMUNICATIONS/ISP AND BPO/ITES INDUSTRY
In terms of occupations, all three countries showed positive growth in demand for specialists in software, hardware and telecommunications. Malaysia has consistently outperformed its neighbors, recording a whopping 74% year-on-year growth in February 2018, up 35% from the 39% year-on-year growth recorded in January.
Singapore and the Philippines recorded annual growth of 10% and 12% respectively in January 2018.
However, in February 2018, Singapore saw a slight decline in demand, which recorded a growth of 9%. In turn, the Philippines showed an upward trend of 20% in the identical month.
