Southeast Asia’s first UNESCO-listed creative city hosting a gastronomic festival

The Phuket Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in cooperation with Phuket Province and Phuket City Municipality, is organizing “Phuket Tasty Fest 2018” on September 1-2 on the park to have a good time the 72nd anniversary of Queen Sirikit – also referred to as “Dragon Park” Road Thalang.

“Phuket is a unique and culturally diverse area for its local delicacies, seafood, halal and vegetarian dishes,” said Deputy Governor Noppadon Kompon TAT Phuket news.

Visitors can have selections throughout the two-day Phuket Tasty Fest 2018, reminiscent of “Phuket’s food culture is ready for global fame” has many alternative zones, offering a wide range of food.

These range from iconic Phuket dishes reminiscent of Mi Hokkien (Chinese Malay noodles), Mi Hun Ba Chang (rice noodles with pork rib soup) and Oh Tao (fried small oysters mixed with taro, shrimp, pork cracklings and spring onions) to fresh seafood.

There are loads of other culinary delights to suit every appetite, including modern fusion dishes, halal dishes and a big selection of desserts. Original dishes from 14 provinces of the southern region of Thailand are also available.

Meanwhile, the DIY zone offers food lovers the chance to try their hand at cooking local Phuket dishes.

“This has been well received by retail partners such as the Wongnai website and the Michelin Guide,” Noppadon added.

Visitors haven’t got to fret about handling money as Government Savings Bank’s “GSB Pay” provides cashless payment services via QR code throughout the event. Food for the event may also be ordered prematurely via a smartphone app.

According to TAT official statementIn line with TAT’s responsible tourism policy, TAT Phuket encourages visitors and shop owners to scale back their use of plastic and foam. The organizers encourage you to bring your personal food containers.

The two-day event may even include cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs from Iron Chef Thailand, a cocktail making exhibition with top Thai bartenders, live music by Thai singers and bands, and contemporary performances by Thailand’s Got Talent contestants.
