Bengkulu’s Kaur district is ready to interrupt records because it prepares to host Indonesia’s largest octopus culinary festival, reports Kompas.com.

According to Kaur Regent Gusril Pausi, the festival, which can be held on July 29 to mark the anniversary at Merdeka Field, is fully ready.
The event coincides with the celebration of National Family Day (Harganas) in Bengkulu Province, which Kaur District hosts.
“At the moment, we have prepared a total of 500 kg of octopus meat and we plan to produce up to 5,000 satay skewers about 200 m long,” he says.
He added that octopus was chosen because the predominant ingredient because there may be a whole lot of it growing in Kaur waters. Octopus meat, especially satay, is a favourite dish of tourists visiting Kaur.
The free festival can be open to everyone.
