Lonely Planet’s annual Best in Asia list, now in its third 12 months, features the travel guide publisher’s top 10 places to go to in the approaching 12 months.
“Asia is such a vast and diverse continent that everyone dreams of escaping,” says Lonely Planet Asia-Pacific spokesman Chris Zeiher in an announcement.
“Our experts have sifted through thousands of recommendations to find the best places to visit in the next 12 months.”
Much of the list includes destinations that usually are not considered popular travel destinations. For example, Sri Lanka’s Arugam Bay – a surf town on the east coast – is praised for its ability to “stay calm while vacationers flock to the remaining ancient citadels and hill stations dotted with tourists.”
Or the Western Ghats in India, that are “an atmospheric mirror of Shimla and Darjeeling, with the added charm of the jungle.”
But there are also greater than famous inclusions, corresponding to Chiang Mai. Long one in all Thailand’s hottest destinations, this northern city has added several recent attractions lately that make it price revisiting. These include the newly opened, award-winning MAIIAM Museum of Contemporary Art.
Other places were praised for his or her improved infrastructure. For example, Indonesia’s Komodo National Park, ranked tenth on this 12 months’s list, is simpler than ever to go to due to recent air connections.
“In addition to seeing the famous Komodo dragon, visitors to this sky-blue archipelago can take a trip to the sacred viewpoints of Padar, sample the tranquil beach life of Kanawa and snorkel with an astonishing variety of marine life on the reefs.” says Lonely Planet.
